Marc Byers
CEO, Protect The Culture
Marc Byers is a music and cultural IP executive with a career spanning more than 35 years. He started as an intern under Kenny Gamble at Philadelphia International Records. He went on to serve as Director of A&R at Atlantic Records and co-founded Rockstar Entertainment, a publishing joint venture with Sony/ATV. He also helped build Warner Records' African music venture and served as General Manager of Motown Records.

Byers is known for spotting talent early. He signed Eve to Dr. Dre and Ruff Ryders and architected her launch as an artist and a brand. He started the career of producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and launched Tiwa Savage, Pheelz and Glenn Lewis in America.

Today he is Founder and CEO of Protect The Culture (PTC), a cultural strategy, IP and digital marketing company. PTC operates as a studio: it originates ventures, holds their IP and brand architecture, and installs operator teams to run them. Its work spans rights infrastructure, media platforms, producer management, and brand strategy for artists, athletes and designers.

Byers also represents designer Ini Archibong, who designed the brand, can and bottle for Gin & Juice, the spirits brand from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
