Channing D. Johnson
Partner, Loeb & Loeb
Channing D. Johnson is a senior partner at the international law firm Loeb & Loeb LLP.  As a firm leader, he serves as a member of Loeb & Loeb’s governing body, its Board of Partners, and is Co-Chair of the firm’s Partnership Admissions Committee. He is a corporate and securities lawyer, with a concentration in media, entertainment, technology, and hospitality. He has extensive experience advising public and private companies in a variety of industries, including art, music, film and television production, financing and distribution, manufacturing, retail, digital commerce, and advertising.  His clients include high-net worth individuals, operating businesses and venture capital and private equity funds.  His transactions in the entertainment and media space involve all means of content distribution and financing, securities issuances, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing agreements, production agreements, publishing and co-publishing agreements, co-branding and sponsorship deals, and high-end talent contracts, among others. He has been legal advisor on the production or financing of more than 50 films, including academy award winners Manchester by the Sea and Wolf of Wall Street, and the purchase, sale or financing of more than 150 entertainment or media companies. His representations have included such high-profile matters as the record-breaking back-to-back renegotiations of TLC’s deal with Arista, Kanye West’s ground-breaking deal with Adidas, and Kobe Bryant’s investments and exits in such companies as Body Armor.

Outside of Loeb, Channing serves as Chairman of 1Community, an entertainment production and co-finance company using the power of storytelling to drive real-world social impact. 1C has co-financed and co-produced such films as Just Mercy (Jamie Fox and Michael B. Jordan), Respect (Jennifer Hudson), Winner (Zach Galifinakis), Nonnas (Vince Vaughan, Lorraine Bracco and Talia Shire), and upcoming films, such as the Lewis Hamilton documentary, King Leopold’s Ghost (Ben Affleck, Martin Scorsese), and Porto Rico (Bad Bunny).   In addition, he serves as the Chairman of both Burrell Communications Group (the oldest and largest Black-owned advertising agency) and Fitzco (a 35 year-old, Atlanta-based ad agency).

Channing has been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal, the Langston Bar Association Hall of Fame, Black Enterprise, and annually by The Best Lawyers in America and Southern California Super Lawyers.
